COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
A history of giving, a tradition of caring

Across the country, Sapphire Canada employees go out of their way to generate and participate in charitable events that raise money for a variety of worthy organizations and important causes. It’s part of who we are as a company and as individuals.

Among the many activities that take place in branches across Canada throughout the year are:

  • Food Drive
  • Clothing Drive
  • Bake Sales
  • Bike-athons
  • Walkathons
  • Marathons

Our signature charitable event is the annual Sapphire Canada Charity Auction, held each November in our Toronto office. Now in its 16th year, the auction has raised over $1,450,000.00!

In 2008, the three charities receiving funds from the proceeds of the auction are - The Sky’s The Limit Youth Organization, The Jennifer Ashleigh Children's Charity, and the Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness.

The Sky’s The Limit Youth Organization

STL was established to make sure that disadvantaged youth have the opportunity to compete with their peers by bridging the ‘digital divide’. Through this organization, youth at risk receive the technology and mentoring they need to stay in school, to build lives and to realize their potential.

By helping youth, the organization helps their families as well. We’re looking forward to developing our relationship with The Sky’s The Limit on an ongoing basis with its inherent opportunities for growth, development and volunteer opportunities across the country. Sapphire Canada realized the first of many national initiatives in 2007 when it supported the opening of a computer centre in Ottawa. Plans are being made to drive this initiative in the Western region in 2008.

The Jennifer Ashleigh Children's Charity

Since 1990, The Jennifer Ashleigh Children's Charity has helped chronically and seriously ill children and their families when their immediate needs aren’t covered by funding or other financial support agencies. This deserving organization is unique in the children’s charity arena in that it is not illness or disease specific – that is, it is not affiliated with any one illness-centered charity, but assists all children from birth to 21 years of age, and their families, based solely on need.

The Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness

The Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness for the prevention of child abuse and adult victimization was established in 1993 to assist Canadians affected by the life-long trauma of abuse—and to educate the public about the detrimental role abuse plays in our society.
